Botox® injections reduce the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles to provide you with a more youthful, fresh look. Dr. Martin Safko at Southwest Dermatology Center offers this cosmetic dermatology procedure to patients in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Botox is a highly purified form of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Small doses of it, administered by injection, paralyze the muscles that cause crow’s feet, lines between your eyebrows, and certain other facial wrinkles. It’s only available with a prescription and must be administered by a doctor or certified technician.
Smile or frown lines as well as lines around the creases of your eyes moderate with the use of Botox. You may also find it lifts sagging corners of your mouth, smoothes your chin, softens wrinkles around your lips, and reduces the appearance of cording in the neck. Talk to Dr. Safko about your problem areas so that he can help steer you toward the most appropriate Botox applications.
Results vary from person to person, but you should notice a visible change in the wrinkles and lines treated with Botox. The areas will smooth, wrinkles will fade, and you’ll look fresher.
As an experienced dermatologist and Botox provider, Dr. Safko can evaluate the size of the muscles to be treated and administer appropriate amounts of the medication. Too much Botox can make you appear frozen or surprised.
Botox is administered by injection with a fine needle. Most patients report very minimal pain or discomfort. Dr. Safko can offer a mild topical anesthesia prior to treatment.
How long results persist depends on the area you have treated and your personal constitution, but most people experience results for 3-12 months.
You’ll need just one treatment of Botox to see results. You’ll notice changes starting 2-3 days after you’ve had the injections and optimal results within a couple of weeks.
Every drug has inherent risks, and Botox is no different. For the most part, side effects may include a little bruising and swelling. You’ll have little downtime, but you’ll need to avoid heavy workouts for 24 hours. More serious complications are rare, but discuss any concerns you may have with Dr. Safko.
